I have been engaged as a Creative Consultant on a number of projects as a result of my Post Graduate interest in Social and Creative Construction, Relational Portraiture and Community Creation. I strongly believe that a life lived more creatively builds resilience, both in individuals and the shared experience of communities.
From 2016-18 I consulted upon an audit of the visual arts and its further potential for growth in Dorset for Dorset County Council, The Arts Development Company and the Arts Council. The resulting report ‘Creative County’ focussed upon increasing the economy and amenity of the county via the visual arts and has informed further direction.
I have delivered projects on a one to one, partnership and organisational level. For artists, such as Wendy Elia www.wendyelia.co.uk for the 2012 Cultural Olympiad, not for profit organisations such as Sherborne House Arts for the conservation of the murals of Sir James Thornhill that exist at the house and also in the pursuance of investment for the preservation and security of this grade one listed building www.thesherborne.uk and, as a consultant, for arts organisations such as The Arts Development Company, Dorchester, The Dorset Local Enterprise Company and The Arts Council.
My specialism is the building of communities around shared, but initially apparently diverse, aims and the embedding of organisations and projects into their immediate environment to the point where the fact that they were never there before can no longer be conceived of. This requires a firm grasp on the concept of Social Ecology, as well as the ability to herd cats.
Recently I have been involved in two very diverse projects: as Project Co-ordinator for Reach for the Arts, a joint initiative between Dorset County Council, Dorset Music Service and The Arts Development Company, funded by the Arts Council, and as an Independent Practitioner for a new gallery under development in Wiltshire.
Since 2020 I have been developing THE GUGG www.guggletonfarmarts.com a community interest company in North Dorset which aims to place creativity at the heart of the community, in order to help those who engage with it to live their best lives, whilst promoting the core values of sustainability, responsibility and care of each other and the environment
